JLSF & National AIDS Memorial Community Day
Sunday, November 9, 2014
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Golden Gate Park (Nancy Pelosi Drive & Bowling Green Drive)
The Junior League of San Francisco, Inc. (JLSF) & National AIDS Memorial Grove is hosting a day of service to showcase the impact the JLSF has when we come together to support a cause. For the second consecutive year, this unique day has been specifically created by the Community Events Outreach committee and the National AIDS Memorial Grove to showcase our JLSF volunteerism for a very special cause.
With more than a century of involvement in the community, the JLSF has been working to support health-related organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. As part of our commitment to this focus, we are partnering with the National AIDS Memorial Grove for a day of service on Sunday, November 9.
We aim to 100 JLSF members together and generate awareness to the National AIDS Memorial Grove. JLSF volunteers will help maintain the Grove in preparation for its annual gala. The Grove is a living tribute to all whose lives have been impacted by AIDS. Its mission is to provide a healing sanctuary, to increase awareness for, and to promote learning and understanding of, the human tragedy of the AIDS pandemic.
In 1988, the JLSF identified HIV and AIDS awareness as a League focus. The JLSF partnered with a number of organizations, including Bread & Roses, Volunteer Legal Services and Youth Advocates, and the Teen HIV Program to provide educational and emotional resources, volunteer support, counsel, and medical services to at-risk youth. We are excited to continue our support of the HIV and AIDS awareness cause.
Please join us on Sunday, November 9 for a special day of volunteering.
