Community Technology Network’s mission is to unite organizations and volunteers to transform lives through digital literacy. While internet connectivity is spreading rapidly to underserved communities, many individuals do not know how to utilize these services. Community Technology Network’s SF Connected program offers free digital literacy training in more than 25 senior centers and low-income housing facilities in San Francisco.
Trainers and volunteers are placed with local senior centers to provide free instruction that helps seniors, low-income residents, and people with disabilities find information, stay connected, and access resources online. The training sessions cover basic computer skills, online communication, and Internet safety.
The JLSF will partner with eight to ten senior center computer labs throughout San Francisco to assist learners in various technology and internet subjects, with a goal of helping to connect 100 elderly residents to the internet and provide them with the skills necessary to use the internet independently and safely.
