Prospective Member Events

Thank you for your interest in The Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF) membership! We are currently recruiting for the new member class, starting in June 2023.  The Junior League of San Francisco welcomes all women who value our mission  to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.

Prospective members must attend one information session and one other JLSF event in person (for a total of two events) to be eligible for membership.  Applications are due on April 28, 2023.  Event attendance may be counted retroactively, but admission is dependent on attending two of the following events:

    • Hosted at the Presidio Transit Center
      • We will be meeting at the picnic tables at the Presidio Transit Center.  If these plans change due to weather, we will email everyone who RSVPd using the link below with new location details by Saturday morning.

  • Women in Leadership Series
    • March 21st, 6:30pm-8pm
    • Hosted at the JLSF Headquarters located above Athleta on Fillmore Street (2226A Fillmore Street, San Francisco CA 94115)
    • Join us for the third and last session of our three part Women in Leadership series. We will be joined by certified Dare to Lead facilitator, Katie Fredricksen. Based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead is an empirically based courage-building program. The most significant finding from Brené’s recent research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets of courage-building that are teachable, measurable, and observable.

  • Women’s History Month Book Club Discussion (Finding Me: A Memoir by Viola Davis)

  • $avvy Women, Money, Freedom Film Screening
    • April 2nd, 10am-1pm
    • Hosted at Vogue Theater in San Francisco
    • You are invited to attend a viewing of the award winning documentary $avvy by director Rovin Hauser. A panel led by Pam Krueger, CEO of Wealthramp will follow the screening.

  • 111th Anniversary Award Presentation & Volunteer Networking Session (ticket purchase required)
    • April 27th, 4:30pm-6:30pm
    • Hosted at The Green Room in San Francisco
    • In honor of our 111th anniversary, the Junior League of San Francisco has selected 26 San Francisco-based organizations that support programs that align with our Mission Statement or Focus Area.  Join us as to honor these organizations’ work.  Wine and lights will be served.

Volunteer Shifts (earn 1 credit)

  • Resurge International Transformation Gala
    • March 25th, 4pm-7pm or 7pm-10pm
      • Shift 1: 4pm-7pm
      • Shift 2: 7pm-10pm
    • Hosted at Pier 27 in San Francisco
    • Resurge International trains, fund, and scale reconstructive surgical teams in low-income countries to provide life-changing care to patients with the greatest need. The organization is committed to ending gender inequality in the medical field too. They have a Pioneering Women in Reconstructive Surgery Program (PWRS) to support and train the next generation of female reconstructive surgeons.  Additional event details can be found here.
    • Volunteer duties may include help with registration, coat check, directing/greeting guests, assisting guests during live and silent auction, guest check out.

  • Randall Museum Bug Day Volunteer
    • April 8, 11:30am-2:30pm
    • Hosted at the Randall Museum
    • Bug Day is free to the San Francisco community the offers kids and families the opportunity to check out the incredible extravaganza of insects and celebrate everything insect with hands-on science and art activities, games, entertainment, and more!  As a volunteer, you will help with set-up, clean-up, activity preparation, crafts, games, demonstrations, food service, ticket sales, and making the public feel welcome.
